Top Tips for a Healthy and Pampered New Year

Laden with resolutions and lofty goals, the start of a new year is one where many are angling to follow a healthier path.

But take it from Chiaro Campo, spa manager of the award-winning T Spa at Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como, Italy: acting towards 2017 full of happiness and well-being doesn’t have to be an arduous journey.From the hotel’s acclaimed spa –she shares 10 simple, enjoyable steps to promote well-being for the next 12 months and beyond.

  1. Wake up

Always eat within an hour of waking up, otherwise, your body will become stressed. Upon awakening, drink one glass of water with a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime – of which the health benefits have been known for centuries – and a pinch of Himalayan salt.

  1. Preparation makes perfect

Like many other achievements in life, the real secret to healthy, beautiful skin lies in perfect preparation: deep cleansing and exfoliation. Get into the habit of preparing an exfoliator of sea salt and olive oil. Also give your skin space to breathe to reveal its inner radiance, and make it ready for quenching with a nourishing moisturizer.

  1. The one-minute body trick

Every morning, dry body brush yourself – this will significantly improve tone, help banish cellulite and boost cell renewal. Start at your feet and brush in light sweeps in the direction of your heart. Your skin tone will thank you!

  1. Be Lazy in the bath

A bath will help rejuvenate the body and detox from the effects of a hectic lifestyle. Choose the extraordinarily pure ESPA aromatherapeutic bath oil and add two cups to a warm bath, then immerse yourself, deeply inhale the aroma, and relax for 20 minutes up to three times a week. The bath oil works as hard to restore equilibrium to the mind as it does to treat the body. Caution: It can be seriously addictive!

  1. Eat organically

Try to eat only organic as it means zero chemicals to toxify your body. At the very least choose clean, lean foods and drinks as much as possible. Whether you’re shopping for food or selecting from a menu, always go for the cleanest, most natural-looking food or meal available. When in doubt, eat fish and greens.

  1. The darker, the better

Fruits and vegetables are all good for you but as a general rule the darker produce, such as kale and spinach, the better. Dark fruits tend to have thinner skin, so they produce more antioxidants to protect themselves from the sun. Next time you have a sweet craving, eat some in-season thin-skinned fruit, such as berries, apples, pears, cherries or green grapes.

  1. Ten-minutes exercise

Regular exercise helps to promote blood flow and increase lean muscle mass. And the more lean muscle mass you have, the less fat/cellulite you will have. I recommend exercising at least three times a week.

  1. Make beauty a pleasure
