Foot sole therapy

We all hold ‘tension’ in our bodies. The continuing worry, stress, rush etc. of a fast-paced life cause stress at a much deeper level. This tautness and tension affects not only the muscles, but the nervous system, the energy flow of the body, the posture and alignment; resulting in blockage or reduced functionality of vital energy movement in the body, along the energy pathways. Barefoot Ashiatsu helps the entire body as the deeper levels of pain, rigidity and stress are released. You know you are in good hands (feet, in this case)! The Tao Spa in Dubai has just what you need!

Ashiatsu Massage – What is it?

AShiatsu combines precise pressure point therapy, and deep tissue massage with firmness and pressure to ease out knots and tension at the deeper levels of muscle. This exceptional work is applied to all muscular areas of the back, hips, legs, feet, arms, shoulders using unhurried and steady pressure that feels very good.

Barefoot Ashiatsu is particularly beneficial for the core stabilizer muscles of the back, waist, low back, hips, glutes, leg, and hamstring muscles. These large muscle groups are responsible for the core support and alignment of the body. Ashiatsu helps them relax and realign as the deep tension is released.

This new and increasingly popular form of massage therapy called “Ashiatsu”, now available at the Tao Spa in Dubai is anything but new. Ashiatsu is an ancient art that originated in Asia and is based on a combination of Ayurvedic, Shiatsu and classic Thai massage. This type of massage has its roots in the East. Although stories of exactly where and when this form of “back walking” massage began vary, its origins can safely be traced back to ancient India, China, Japan, and other Asian countries. Parallel bars are suspended from the ceiling and held by the therapist for balance & control so the therapist can use a deep, painless form of barefoot massage. Ashiatsu releases lactic acid, toxins and metabolic waste at deeper levels than table massage.

Ashi means foot and atsu means pressure, so basically ashiatsu means pressure with the foot.

Traditional Ashiatsu massage therapy is found in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is practiced in both China and Japan by practitioners with a deep understanding of the body’s meridians (energy channels) who have been trained to take a whole-body approach to wellness. During the treatment, a client lies on the massage table, while the Ashiatsu practitioner holds the bars at the top and walks across their back, using the feet to target specific pressure points with soothing strokes and varying pressure on different parts to relax the muscles and release toxins to induce deep relaxation.

Barefoot massage enables the flow of energy through the body’s chakras, and assists in balancing them. When the chakras are energized, many surprising healing benefits can result.

This kind of a massage is ideal for those who love deep tissue massage. It is also used as a sports therapy due to the elements of stretching and engaging the large muscle groups that are used. It is also a great way to quickly warm up the large muscles for more detailed therapy, especially on people who are very muscular, although there are no restrictions on body types who can receive Ashiatsu, due to the therapist having control of weight distribution.

You will feel deeply relaxed. The muscles feel better and ‘clearer’. Joints feel better as the surrounding muscle tension is released. Ashiatsu helps the immune system by increasing lymph flow (the cleanser of the immune system) detoxifying the body.

Benefits of Ashiatsu Massage:

Releases tight muscles

Diminishes stress

Deepens relaxation

Stimulates your body’s own self-healing capabilities
